Personally, I would much rather live under a communist economy as opposed to a capitalist one. I have many reasons for this, but mainly the fact that a society revolving around the philosophies of Karl Marx gives truely equal opportunities and lives for all citizens, while a capitalist-based economy only claims to do so.
A society truely based around capitalism will tend to project unequaled apathy at those less fortunate who do not prove themselves useful; for instance, how many times have you seen one of the homeless begging on the streets, and those who could help with very little personal burdons turn their heads in disgust? Or how many times in the recent past has a large orginization evaded abolition simply by having more money than the rest of the 'free' world; Microsoft, Nasdaq, and ofcourse, the United States Government; just to name a few. Many capitalist economies have formed programs to help the unfortunate, these, however, aren't the slightest bit capitalist; wellfare, social security, government assisted housing, charities; all are the result of the socialist and communist philosophies. Social Darwinism also seem to prevail more often in capitalist societies than it does in communist or socialist economies. I believe that the following quote adressing the views of many capitalists represents this better than any statistic could. "Nevermind the machines. Remember the men; the men make the machines, and the men make their own tragedies too. Once your life get easier, you'll take for granted, not only that theirs must be easier too, but also that they deserve what they get anyway, that some law of natural selection has put you up where you are, and them down where they are." - Karl Marx. Most capitalists never bother to think of the lives of others, most of the ones that do assume their lives must be as easy as theirs; even in their own community however, the opposite is often true. In some areas, the distinction between the Proletariat and the Bourgeoisie is still painfully evident.
The communist philosophy is also flawed however. This is most visible in the fact that no true communist society has ever existed; and probably never will. For a communist society to even exist, there must be a struggle between social classes--this happens quite often, but the Proletariat overthrow of a Bourgeoisie is a bit more uncommon; and since the Bourgeoisie will constantly struggle to regain their position of dissolved power, its an even more uncommon event that the Proletariat should maintain power long enough to establish a proper governing body. In the even that a governing body is formed, Marx's philosophy states that the governing body would dissolve after some time and the people would continue life just as they did while they were governed peacefully without interfearence, but as demonstrated in Soviet Russia, a government will never relinquish power voluntarily, as this would disrupt the comfortable lives of those making the decisions. Assuming that a revolution had occured, the Proletariat gained power, a government was sucessfully erected and abolished, and that society was living in peace, peace would never last. As stated by Leviathan, humans will take every opportunity given, driven by greed and the lust for power. In a truely communist society, a small army could seize militant control over the nation--or world for that matter--with little armed resistance, constructing something far worse than capitalism: totalitarianism.
Until humanity can evolve itself beyond trivial things such as currency, pride, nationalism, greed, and the lust for power--which is impossible under the control of capitalism--, the vision of Karl Marx's perfect society will remain nothing but burning idealism, bound for tragedy and atrocity; such as that dreamed up by Eric Blare(George Orwell was just a pseudonym) in 1984.
"Compare and contrast the differences between a capitalist and communist eoconomy, and explain why you would rather live under one system rather than the other"
NOTE: I DO NOT ADVOCATE OR SYMPATHISE WITH NAZIS OR TOTALITARIANISTIC GOVERNMENTS. THE USSR AND NAZI PARTIES WERE TOTALITARIANIST REGIEMS. SEE '1984' AND 'Das Kapital'.

Personally not a fan of capitalism. Got my own form of government I find ideal that revolves around my faith, but it's very nice to see one who is open about their beliefs. I really don't like how when I say I don't like capitalism, I get criticized and beat up for it. They have no idea what they are talking about half the time.
